This hexagram shows no triumphant turnaround, but the first sign of return. Not yet full spring, only the first movement back toward life. What was gone, seemed closed, or went too far, begins to find a track inward again. The force is small, but pure.
Tension
The tension lies in the urge to turn a first return straight into a completed recovery. One wants to harvest too quickly from a beginning that still asks for protection. But this hexagram honors exactly the smallness of the turn. What returns must first regain ground.
Distortion
Return distorts when it is rushed or claimed. Then the new beginning is loaded again with old impatience. What was just found again comes loose from its axis once more.
Stance
Protect the return by letting it stay small. Do not push, do not adorn, do not explain too much. Acknowledge that something is reporting in again, and let that be enough for now. The true track often returns more quietly than it ever left.

- Line 1. At the start the return is still close to the point of straying. That is favorable. Whoever returns early spares themselves a heavier detour.
- Line 2. Here the return grows soft and reliable. It need not be dramatic to be real. The simple turnaround especially carries far.
- Line 3. This line shows going back and forth. The return is there, but not yet stable. That asks for patience without self-deception.
- Line 4. At this point someone returns while the surroundings still move otherwise. That makes the line lonely, but not wrong. One's own return need not be confirmed en masse.
- Line 5. Here return gains inner dignity. One returns not only out of need, but out of truth. Because of that the turnaround becomes load-bearing.
- Line 6. When one strays too far from the right track, return grows heavy or too late. This line warns against hardening beyond the turning point. What is long ignored asks a higher price later.
